Samiha Sachedina

Samiha Sachedina is Senior Vice-President, Enterprise and Operational Risk Management for Sun Life. Samiha is a seasoned leader responsible for working with the business and corporate functions to drive risk management initiatives and oversee enterprise and operational risk management across the organization through the design and execution of risk management programs and frameworks.

As Chief Auditor from 2019 to 2024, Samiha led the global Internal Audit function, assisting management in continually improving Sun Life’s risk management and control environment, and providing the Board of Directors and other stakeholders with assurance over the effectiveness of internal controls. This included leading several strategic priorities to elevate the capabilities of Internal Audit to meet the changing risk landscape across the industry.

Prior to Sun Life, Samiha was an Associate Partner within the IT Audit and Risk Advisory practices at EY, spending over 13 years serving clients within the Financial Services sector. With over 25 years of combined professional services and industry experience, Samiha is a seasoned leader and skilled professional in audit, risk management, and compliance.

Samiha is a passionate advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion. She is an active mentor for young professionals across Corporate Canada and lends her time and talents to organizations, such as Ascend Canada, that are committed to enhancing the presence, visibility, and influence of under-represented minorities. She is a Board member for the Shaw Festival, a contemporary Canadian theatre company.

Samiha is a Certified Internal Auditor and a Certified Information Systems Auditor. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto.
