A senior data and business executive, Sarah Hamel brings years of experience leading enterprise data strategy, governance, and large-scale transformation initiatives within the financial services sector. Throughout their career, Sarah has focused on building enterprise data capabilities to support regulatory compliance, risk management, and business innovation; helping organizations translate complex data environments into actionable insights, measurable value, and AI capabilities.
In her current role as Assistant Vice President, Data Strategy & Management at TD Bank Group, Sarah leads initiatives that strengthen data governance, improve data accessibility, and enable advanced analytics and AI-driven decision-making across the organization. Over the years, Sarah has held leadership positions at several of Canada’s major financial institutions, including TD Securities, CIBC, BMO Financial Group, and Laurentian Bank of Canada.
Sarah is also a strong advocate for diversity in leadership, believing that organizations are at their best when leadership teams reflect the communities they serve. “I am particularly passionate about creating pathways for underrepresented voices in senior leadership.” As the AVP of Strategy at Ascend Canada, Sarah is especially interested in supporting and strengthening Pan-Asian leadership development.
