Media Advisory – 7th annual Ascend Canada fall conference 2018

TORONTO [September 10, 2018] – The 7th Annual Ascend Canada Fall Conference 2018 promises to be an exciting day for professionals from all walks of life featuring industry leaders, interactive workshops and panel discussions centered around the 2018 Ascend Canada theme of ‘Leadership without Ceilings’.

Notable speakers include Patrick Chan, three-time World Champion, ten-time Canadian Champion, Olympic gold and two-time silver medalist and RBC Olympian, who will share his aspirational journey and tactics to overcome challenges. While Jad Shimaly, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, EY Canada, will talk about his career journey, views on diversity, inclusion and on breaking the glass ceiling in a fireside chat with Angie Seth, News Anchor, CTV News.

Further, a thought leadership white paper ‘Fitting in at work’, will be launched sharing insights of how an inclusive and a diverse company can spark innovation and employee engagement at the workplace. Says Miyo Yamashita, Co-chair, Chief Inclusion Officer Forum, Ascend Canada, “Canadian companies are strongly committed to diversity and inclusion. Progress to advance Pan-Asians and other minority groups in leadership, particularly at the highest ranks, however, is slow. How can corporate Canada accelerate? This piece will explain the differences between covering and compliance with corporate culture, help leaders to spot covering in their workplaces, and outline how a more diverse and authentic workplace culture benefits everyone – from shareholders and leaders to individual employees”

Ascend Canada, one of North America’s premier organizations for Pan-Asian professionals and leaders, generates immense opportunities for young achievers to develop their full potential. “At Ascend Canada we are passionate about our community and enable you to be successful leaders and catalysts of change. Our vision is to create a community that innovates, challenges the status quo and truly leads without ceilings.” says Kelvin Tran, President, Ascend Canada.
