Remembering: Victor Tung

It is with heavy hearts that we share our friend, colleague and Ascend Canada Board member, Victor Tung, passed away unexpectedly this week.
Victor was a Diversity & Inclusion champion and a dedicated member of Ascend. He joined the Board four years ago, and from there, became a valued advocate of Ascend and the broader Pan-Asian community. Often sought after to participate in panel discussions, professional networking sessions, or keynotes, Victor was always there when called upon. He was keen to mentor the next generation of leaders and pay it forward, sharing his journey and lived experiences. His passion and dedication towards our Purpose led to him lifting BMO from a Gold Sponsor of Ascend Canada to Platinum level, making for even greater impact for his colleagues and an even larger network for our community.
Victor was a trailblazer in everything that he did and we are thankful and grateful that he chose to be part of the Ascend community where we had the opportunity to work alongside him on a number of initiatives that he was equally vested, helping to make the communities where we live and work more inclusive.
His message to those around him was for everyone to take care of each other and themselves – both physically and mentally. And to that, we would ask that you check in with each other during this difficult time. Victor was a friend and mentor to so many within the Ascend community; his lasting impact will not soon be forgotten.
On behalf of everyone at Ascend Canada, our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time. May he rest in peace.
